Shaping timber · Honouring Mother Earth

Functional art,
carved from nature.

Furniture and functional art carved from solid, responsibly sourced wood - crafted slowly and meticulously, made to earn its place for generations.

Hi there

A meeting point between craft and consciousness.

My name is Wessel Gresse, and I am the creator behind Conscious Wood - a Namibian-born photographer and woodworker who specialises in solid wood joinery.

Conscious Wood originated from my conviction to create high-quality furniture through ethically sourced wood - foraging through nature's discarded piles or using repurposed timber. I aim to create exclusive pieces of functional art by blending the various influences that have shaped me.

Featured pieces

A glimpse of recent commissions and personal art. Each piece is shaped by hand and never repeated.

Ethically sourced

Timber foraged from nature's discarded piles or reclaimed and repurposed - never at the expense of the forest.

Solid-wood joinery

Built to last with traditional joinery - including the ancient Japanese art of Kumiko, held by pressure alone.

Sacred geometry

Patterns drawn from stereotomy and sacred geometry, woven into one-of-a-kind functional art.

Made just once

Every commission is exclusive - shaped by hand, guided by the grain, and never replicated.

"To create a timeless piece, handcrafted with purpose and built to last."
